My baby was due two days ago.
My husband waits for the cue that it's time. Family and friends wait for an announcement. My body waits for deliverance. My arms wait for snuggles. My eyes wait to look into his.
Over the past months, we've waited for the double pink lines, for second trimester, third trimester, and full term. We've waited for ultrasound appointments, to hear the reassuring heartbeats and feel the ninja jabs, and man-oh-man have we waited for the doctor. We've waited for visits from friends and family who have graciously stood with us in line for as long as their lives would allow them.
But pregnancy has been the best wait of my life. I'd stand in this line forever if that is what it takes to meet this little boy. Forty weeks and two days, but I really mean that. There are so many fun parts of the wait.
